Wednesday, September 17 -- Two movie premieres El Capitan: "Cold Creek Manor" at 8 p.m. Grauman's: "The Fighting Temptations" at 7 p.m. In preparation for these premieres, the following will occur: Westbound Hollywood Boulevard lanes will close between Orange and Highland, beginning at 6 a.m. on 9/17. The entire Boulevard will be closed between LaBrea and Highland beginning at 1 p.m. Lanes re-open at 2 a.m. on 9/18. 2. Sunday, October 12 -- All questions about this event should be directed to the Mayor's hotline at 213-978-2633 Latino Heritage Festival noon to 7 p.m. Location: Hollywood Boulevard, between Vine and Highland (Vine and Highland will remain open.) The closure will commence at 3:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, 10/12 in order to accomodate the set-up of stages, rides and booths. This is the culmination of a month-long series of events coordinated by the Mayor's office to celebrate Hispanic culture and contributions to L.A. More details will follow, but at this point, the festival calls for the installation of at least two performance stages, and rides and 60 booths. The festival is anticipated to draw between 20,000 to 25,000 people. Entertainment includes Juan Gabriel and Conjunto Primavera. The event will not be gated and admission is free. Residents who live along side streets will be allowed access to and from their homes. Regards, Kerry Morrison |
