Hollywood Gower Special Meeting Sunday, April 5, 2006

Hollywood-Gower Action Committee was created tonight. Members of that committee are listed below.

The meeting was well-attended as people crowded into the Blue Palms Lounge (Music Box Theatre). Lots of ideas were exchanged and Baydsar Thomasian was on hand from Garcetti's office in order to change everyone's feelings about the project. There were new people in the crowd - in particular, business owners. These people were very articulate as were the neighborhood council reps, and the residents.

This committee is organized to go forward to reflect the wishes of the local community regarding the Permanent Supportive Housing project that was passed without community input.

Baydsar told the group that the CRA and Garcetti had agreed that no social services would be open to the public in this proposed facility. Since that meeting, we have been made aware that this was an inaccurate statement.

Some suggested that if this project won't be stopped, perhaps it could be geared toward the working poor, disabled elderly, indigent elderly, etc.
