Overview
Permanent Supportive Housing Facility
Coming
to Your Neighborhood
Who is behind this?
Councilman Eric Garcetti, L.A. Voice (Sarah Phelps) formerly known as Hollywood
Interfaith Sponsoring Committee), Community Redevelopment Agency/CRA-LA (John
McCoy).
Project description:
60-unit Adult Permanent Supportive Housing for the chronically homeless with
5,000 square feet of social services serving the residents and the general
public.
Who will be served: Those
with any one or combination of the following: substance abuse issues – drug
and/or alcohol, mental issues, those recently released from jail/prison, people
with HIV Aids, etc. and the general public (as walk-ins).
Project location:
1720 – 1726 N. Gower St.
The Neighborhood’s
Position: Not one more social service for Hollywood or downtown Los Angeles. Hollywood
and downtown L.A. have been generous enough. Hollywood has over 20 social
services in a one-mile radius around Hollywood & Gower. This project mostly
likely will attract more homeless into the area making a bad situation worse. We
feel other city council districts need to build facilities for the homeless. We
ask that the city adopt the Beachwood Voice’s Fair Share Mandate and abandon
this project.
