Meeting Report

October 14, 2003

Sprint is appealing the zoning administrator’s decision against their proposal to place a huge antenna on top of 1848 Gramercy Place. Josh (Garfield) and Gregory (Gramercy) will help get the neighbors together in a meeting before the hearing scheduled for October 28. K.C. and Fran will work with them on the strategy. Fran will go downtown to get the file for Josh to study prior to the neighbors meeting. Gregory suggests a powerfully worded flyer to get the neighbors to both the small meeting and the actual hearing. (Eastwood's Statement hand-delivered to the Planning Commission 10-15-03 - click here)

Discussion regarding MTA was tabled due to the MTA strike.

Development was discussed. Chancee Martorell from Thai Community Development Center shared some of their recent beautification projects and their work with local merchants to create a vision for the parking lot parcels located behind the Panorama.

Ana Morales & Margarite Rivas mentioned the overgrown trees at 1740 Garfield and how dark it is there as a result – some unruly behavior has been taking place in that area. Fran will call Street Trees and ask for them to place that on their schedule for trimming.

Officer Sevdalian was absent because it was his day off – Michelle Fleenor encouraged people to form neighborhood watch groups and look out for one another.

Katherine Zarate announced Free Flu Shots on November 13 starting at 9AM.

Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 4th at 6PM – 7PM (First Tuesday of the month)
